I
had a weird thing happen today: I had the "Max. Number
of Cars" set to 5 for the Heats and Mains. We had one
class with 10 total drivers. We ran 2 round of heats then
when I went to setup the mains it broke the mains up into
4 races: 3 cars in the first, 3 in the second and 4 in
the third race. I have no clue why, it setup the heats
fine ,5 in the first and 5 in the second. Can you guys
check this out?
How
can I check if my transponders are working properly before
starting the races?
Can
I change the "Settings" parameters after I organized the
Heats or Mains for this Event?
We
just started a 30 minute Main and the weather will force
us to reduce its duration to 15 minutes. Should I stop
it, reconfigure that class and start the race again?
On
Sunday, one of the racers used the wrong transponder in
his Main. The transponder he used was for a different
driver who did not race in the Main because his car was
broken. I need a way to transfer all those laps - without
having to delete and retype everything in. Is there some
way to do this in the database or am I stuck doing a manual
edit?
I
forgot to turn on the option to create the WEB (HTML)
files and all the races we had this weekend were just
printed at the track. Do I have to type all of that data
to publish them on the WEB?
We
have only 10 transponders labeled as "Yellow".
When I printed the Heats, the JLap Race Manager assigned
"Black" and "Red" alternated for each
race. What is wrong?
Is
it an alternative race management program, comparable to
other lap counting programs?
Yes,
it is MORE THAN an alternative! In fact, I would say "It
is THE alternative!". JLap Race Manager
is a complete new way to manage R/C car races!
It was designed to make the Race Director's life a lot
easier and produce much more accuracy in the race results!
It uses the latest software technology to do everything
possible to reduce the hard work required to manage those
very competitive races that we all love. They have so
many details to take care of, that it almost becomes a
second job... From the preparation of the event, managing
the race and finally publishing the results during and
after the race. Our system does it all, including the
announcer's job, (calling the racers and turn-marshals)
and keeping them informed of the time, as well the race
positions. The only important thing that the computer will
not do for you is to make the important decisions that
only the Race Director is able too!

What
does your equipment replace?
The
JLap Race Manager
is pure software and it does not replace any
of your hardware (AMB20 and AMBrc lap counter, transponders
or computer). It was designed to exclusively use the AMB
decoder and transponders that you already have today.
However, you can also use it to hand counting laps via
the computer's keyboard.

What
benefits does your equipment have over what we are using
now?
There
is no equipment, only software! Everything running under
Microsoft Windows, with a very user friendly interface
will enhance your equipment so much that you will think
you have a completely new lap counting system. It is important
to mention that all the other software available today
are DOS based systems and they do not require more than
an old 286 computer. Our system requires a Pentium
200Mhz (or equivalent) with Windows 98, if not
using the announcer's voice system. To take full advantage
of all system features, a Pentium 400 Mhz with 96Mb
of RAM (or equivalent) with Windows 98, 98SE or Me, or
Pentium 800 Mhz with 256Mb for Windows NT 4.20, Windows
2000 or XP (Home or Pro) is required.
NOTE:
If you are going to use JLap to run important
events, we do recommend
Windows XP (Home or Pro).

I
organized all the Heats and one racer showed up late and
wanted to race. How can I include him quickly?
Click
the "Heats" button on the Main screen (home screen). From
the "Heats Setup" screen, click the "Helmet" icon to go
to the "Racers Profiles" screen. If the racer is not in
the Racers Database yet, include him with the minimum
required information (Name, Class(es), Frequencies and
Personal Transponder, if he has one).
Then,
double-click the class or classes where he is going to
run in the Event. By closing the "Racers Profiles" screen
you are going to be back in the "Heats Setup" screen,
click the button that rechecks the frequencies ( you probably
made adjustments to the races and you DON'T WANT to re
- organize the races - so, stay away from the "Organize"
button), resolve any conflicts and close the screen.
Click
the "Run" button, and then click "Preview" (this will
allocate the correct transponder to him). It is not mandatory
to reprint all the "Race Listings", so just close the
"Preview" screen. Now, you can reprint that specific "Heat
Listings" by highlighting that race and clicking the print
or preview icon on the right side of the races list. .

We
already ran the first round of qualifiers and another racer
showed up. Can I still have him running the second round
on?
Yes.
Just follow the same procedure described on the previous
question. .

and one of our racers showed up to race. Should I send him
home?
No.
You can still include him or her using the same concept
applied on the previous two questions. Again, just make
sure that you are not going to reorganize the Mains.

Check
the "Bump-Up" information for that class. The "Bump-Up"
is used only for the Mains and would reserve space on
each race to receive the top results from the lower Main.

How
can I check if my transponders are working properly before
starting the races?
Just
click the "Practice" button and pass the transponders
over the loop. If you are using the AMBrc decoder, make
sure that the settings are defined as "AMBrc", otherwise,
it could be working in compatibility mode and reading
only the last digit.

Can
I change the "Settings" parameters after I organized the
Heats or Mains for this Event?
Yes.
However, any parameter related to the transponders (Decoder
Type, Colors and Numbers) will require the reorganization
of the Heats or Mains.

We
just started a 30 minute Main and the weather will force
us to reduce its duration to 15 minutes. Should I stop it,
reconfigure that class and start the race again?
No.
While the race is in progress you can increase or decrease
the duration of this race by clicking the plus ("+") or
minus ("-") buttons on the right side of the "Time To
Go" clock. Each click will increase or decrease the clock
by one minute.

I need a way to transfer all those laps - without having

Yes.
First, it is important to make a backup of the database
(Settings|Events and Series|Backup Databases), this will
create the DBsBKP.ZIP file (we recommend that you save
that file to a floppy or other folder, because the next
backup will overlap it).
Then,
you have to recreate the reports for that race (Reports|Heats
or Mains Event|Preview), race by race will be available
for that Event and you can edit the laps and change the
transponder number. Note: If you have more than one racer
with the wrong transponder, it will be better to change
one, reprint the report, and then change the other..

No.
Just recreate the reports for that race (Reports|Heats
or Mains Event|Preview), make sure that the WEB (HTML)
box is checked, and when you click "Print" you will be
prompted to select which races you want to reprint from
that Event.

We
have only 10 transponders labeled as "Yellow".
When I printed the Heats, the JLap Race Manager assigned
"Black" and "Red" alternated for each
race. What is wrong?
The
JLap automatically alternates the transponder colors among
the races. As you have one set with the same color, just
change the setup to have TWO sets of "Yellow"
transponders. If you are using the AMBrc transponders,
it is important to read the 10 transponders again as the
"second" set.
